Due to five straight years of double-digit growth in Indianapolis, Ritz Safety is expanding to a new facility four times the size of our current location! This is the second expansion for Ritz Safety in four years in Indianapolis.

New Indy MapThe new facility, currently being renovated, will be located at the corner of 34th Street and Shadeland Avenue, just 1.1 miles north of the current building. The expansion will allow Ritz Safety to carry additional product lines in Indianapolis, such as safety boots by Timberland, Wolverine and Thorogood as well as expanding on current brands such as Carhartt, DBI/Sala, Honeywell, Global Glove, Scott Safety, 3M and more. We also expect to open a new confined space rental and repair department in Indianapolis, featuring products by MSA and Scott Safety, and rental and calibration services for a select group of gas detection products.

The expanded warehouse space will provide much needed relief for the growing distribution needs of the entire company. Executive Vice President Chris Kimmet said, “Expanding in Indianapolis was a strategic move we thought would be necessary 2-3 years from now. Fortunately for us, our performance in this market and the loyalty of our customers forced us to move much faster than anticipated.”

Our new, 5,000 square foot showroom will be one of the largest PPE showrooms in Central Indiana, featuring interactive product displays, a Boot Wall with 40+ of the hottest brands and styles and hundreds of examples of the latest PPE on display. Our new facility will also feature a large, state-of-the-art training room for in-house product and manufacturer safety sessions.

“Don’t Be That Driver” – National Work Zone Awareness Week

Close your eyes for a second, and picture your desk, complete with the photos of your loved ones, your computer, phone, and everything else necessary to get your job done. Now, envision that same desk located on the shoulder of a busy interstate with cars, trucks and tractor-trailers flying past at highway speeds. Now imagine yourself sitting at that desk and working every day – knowing in your mind that, without warning, you could suddenly be struck by a careless driver or out-of-control vehicle. Just the thought of it makes you cringe, doesn’t it?Desk Side of Road

This is the reality for thousands of people who work in construction traffic zones every day. These are some of the most dangerous jobsites that exist and the workers are always one step away from being injured or killed by traffic.

Distracted driving is a leading cause of accidents and traffic fatalities, and the danger only increases when passing through a work zone. Drivers who are distracted by eating, grooming or using a mobile device are more likely to injure or kill themselves or workers on the roads. Shouldn’t we be willing to slow down and pay attention as we drive through their “office?”

The 2016 National Work Zone Awareness Week, April 11 – 15, aims to raise awareness of the dangers of distracted driving, and specifically driving through work zones. Work zone safety affects everyone, in every industry, so many federal, state and other agencies, as well as Ritz Safety, are encouraging participation in National Work Zone Safety Week.

How can you get involved?
